Optimal insight into supplier performance for Royal Huisman

Royal Huisman Shipyard has been working with ISPnext's Vendor Management solution since 2020. We spoke with Bert Doosje, Supply Chain Manager at Royal Huisman. Together with his team, he is responsible for integrating suppliers and subcontractors into processes and projects. ''We source globally and our job is to find products and/or services that meet our customers' top quality requirements.''

Why ISPnext?

After a careful selection process, Royal Huisman chose ISPnext. Bert explains: ''We chose ISPnext because the Vendor Management solution with the associatede-functionality Vendor Rating best fits our program. For almost all of our processes, ISPnext has already developed a solution and included it in the package. This concerns, for example, the approach we use to achieve the targeted performance. We have, in effect, a matrix organisation where we aim to obtain a view of the performance delivered by our suppliers both from the line and from our projects. In addition, dashboarding of KPIs is important to us, and this is something ISPnext can also capitalise on.''

Vendor Rating

Royal Huisman has begun Vendor Rating of Vendor Management. It is a rating of suppliers. ''Prior to using Vendor Rating, we loaded basic information from our suppliers onto the platform. After a kick-off, in a short time, about 2.5 months, we fully implemented the platform and assessed and visualised the order of all the A-suppliers.'' 
 
In addition to Vendor Rating from Vendor Management, Royal Huisman also uses dashboarding. ''Dashboarding puts the icing, as far as implementation is concerned, on the cake. Then we will continue to work with vendors to get and keep a sharper focus on the quality of our supplier database. For this, we will requestreview and maintain additional supplier information.'' 

Efficiency

''The fact that we can go to a centrally managed platform, which is fed supplier information from our ERP system, means efficiency. In addition, the platform proactively triggers actions to be followed up either by us or by the suppliers. The real-time information generated by the platform in the form of dashboards reduces the number of reporting hours.''
